Visit of Vice Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration of the Democratic Republic of the Congo to India (November 09-10, 2017)

H.E. Leonard She Okitundu Lundula, Vice-Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration, Democratic Republic of Congo, is visiting India from 9-10 November, 2017. He called on External Affairs Minister this morning. Both sides reviewed the current state of bilateral relations and discussed priority areas for future cooperation. They expressed satisfaction over the close and friendly relations between the two countries.

Vice PM Okitundu handed over a letter from President of DRC inviting our Prime Minister to visit DRC. He also extended an invitation to EAM for a visit to DRC.

Vice PM Okitundu and EAM exchanged views on a broad range of subjects covering the bilateral relationship. Vice PM Okitundu expressed appreciation for India’s support for DRC’s economic development. EAM conveyed India’s continuing support for developmental partnership including Lines of Credit and capacity building in DRC. Vice PM Okitundu expressed desire for stepping up cooperation in areas such as mining, education and electoral processes.

Vice PM Okitundu thanked India for its contribution of troops to UN peace keeping operations in DRC. Both sides agreed to explore holding the bilateral Joint Commission Meeting in early 2018.
