†1618. SHRI LAL SINH VADODIA:
Will the Minister of EXTERNAL AFFAIRS be pleased to state:

(b) the number of countries where Indian Embassies have not been established;
(c) whether Government plans to establish Indian embassy in all the countries of the world; and
(d) if so, the details thereof and if not, the reasons therefor?
THE MINISTER OF STATE IN THE MINISTRY OF EXTERNAL AFFAIRS
[GEN. (DR) V. K. SINGH (RETD)]
(a) to (d) As on date, there are 122 existing resident Indian Missions, 6 Missions to multilateral organizations, one Representative Office and 56 Posts abroad, which cover a large number of countries either through accreditation or concurrent accreditation
arrangements. India does not have a resident Embassy in 68 countries. The merits of opening more Embassies are constantly reviewed by the Government. The Government’s decision to open a new Embassy/Consular office in a foreign country is based on the principle
of reciprocity and functional requirements.
