On the occasion of Rashtriya Ekta Diwas (National Unity Day) a function was organized in the Embassy auditorium on 31st August 2016 to celebrate 141st Birth Anniversary of Sardar Patel in which members of the Mission, Indian community and media participated. Pledge to uphold national unity was administered by Ms. Neeta Bhushan, Charge d’ Affaires to the Embassy personnel. She spoke about the contribution of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, the ‘Iron Man of India’, his extraordinary efforts in the integration of princely states in India and his life, achievements and message.

ABUJA, Nigeria

The High Commission of India, Abuja celebrated 141st Birth Anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel at its premises on 31 October, 2016. In the morning AHC administered 'Ekta' (unity) pledge to officials of the High Commission. In the afternoon the programme began with a speech by Acting High Commissioner, Shri Kaisar Alam. Wherein touched upon Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel’s contribution for India’s freedom movement and instrumental in uniting around 560 princely states into the Indian nation. The event saw participation of Indian Community members.

ACCRA, Ghana

The week long celebrations of the 141st Birth Anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel organized by the Mission began with photographic exhibition and screening of documentary on October 29, 2016. The formal celebration on 31st October bean with the administering of National Unity “Rashtriya Ekta” pledge to all the Indian officials working in the Mission. A number of Indian nationals also attended the event, which also included screening of the documentary titled: “A Man of Silence – Sardar Vallabbhai Patel”.

Mazar-e Sharif, Afghanistan

The consulate celebrated 141st Birth Anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel’s on 31st October 2016. The event included administering. “Rastriya Ekta Diwas” pledge to all India – based personnel of the Consulate in the morning. A brief speech on the life of Sardar Patel and screening of documentary film - “Man of Silence – Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel” (in English) and feature film ‘Sardar’ (in Hindi). About 75 persons attended the event.

Mission celebrated 141st Birth Anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel at the Embassy premises on 27.10.2016. The programme was attended by Embassy staff and also Turkish students and faculty members from Indology Department, Ankara University. Ambassador addressed the gathering regarding contribution of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel to Indian freedom struggle. A presentation on life of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel in Turkish language was also presented by one of the students.

Almaty, Kazakhstan

The Mission celebrated the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel in Almaty on 6th November, 2016 with the support of Tengri Bank (Joint Venture of PNB India). The programme of celebration was given wide publicity through the Mission’s website and social media platforms. The members of Indian community and prominent Indologists and Indian scholars were invited.

Antananarivo, Madagascar

On 31 Oct 2016 Rastriya Ekta Divas Pledge was administered by the Ambassador to all the India based officials and Indian nationals present in the function held by the Embassy. The Mission also mounted a photo exhibition on the life and times of Sardar Patel and screened a documentary film -“Man of Silence – Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel”.

Ashgabat, Turkmenistan

On 30th October, 2016 a ceremony was held at the Chancery to celebrate. “Rashtriya Ekta Divas” commemorating the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. Ambassador Dr. T.V. Nagendra Prasad presided over the function participated by Embassy officials and families.

Astana, Kazakhstan

The Mission celebrated the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel in Almaty on 6th November, 2016 with the support of Tengri Bank. The celebration that began with the lighting of lamp and garlanding of the portrait of Sardar Patel was followed by screening of feature film “Sardar” by Ketan Mehta and documentary - “A man of silence – Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel”. About 45 people attended the event.

Atlanta, USA

Consulate General of India, Atlanta, in collaboration with Guajarati Samaj of Atlanta hosted a function to mark the 141st Birth Anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel – Rashritya Ekta Diwas on 31 October, 2016 at Sardar Patel Bhawan, Atlanta. The celebrations started with the garlanding the statue of Sardar Patel by Consul General other dignitaries paying floral tributes. The event concluded with a screening of documentary on Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel and display of photos on his Life & Times.

Baghdad, Iraq

The embassy organized an event to commemorate the 141st Birth Anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. A pledge for national unity was taken by the Indian nationals who gathered on the occasion. A documentary on the life of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel ‘Man of Silence-Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel” was also screened along with a presentation of the photos.

The Mission, in association with the Indian School, Bahrain organized an event to celebrate ‘Rashtriya Ekta Divas’ to mark the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabbhai Patel on 31st October 2016 at the Indian School, Isa Town campus. The event saw speeches by students and teachers highlighting the contribution of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel in the freedom struggle and unification of princely states into the Republic of India. Ambassador also addressed the gathering and highlighted the salient points of Sardar Vallabbhai Patel’s life, his legacy and contribution in shaping the modern day India. A documentary film on the life of ‘Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel’ was also screened during the event.

The 141st Birth Anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel was celebrated by EL Bamako on 31st October 2016 at its Chancery premises. Many member of Indian community and friends of India in Mali participated in the celebration. The programme started with floral tributes on the photograph of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. A photo exhibition on the Life and Times of Sardar Patel and screening of a film - "Man of Silence - Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel" were also organized.

Beijing, China

The Mission celebrated the 141st Birth Anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel on 31st October, 2016 wherein a photo exhibition was mounted which depicted Sardar Patel’s life and show cased the important role he played in India’s struggle for freedom and in nation-building in the early years of India’s independence. Later, the feature film “Sardar” chronicling the life and times of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel was screened at the auditorium of the Embassy.The function was attended by around 100 people which included members of the Indian community in Beijing, Indian students pursuing courses in various universities in Beijing and the members of the Mission.

Belgrade, Serbia

The documentary film - “Man of Silence – Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel” was telecast by Serbian national broadcaster on its channel RTS on 31 Oct, 2016. Lectures and screening of documentary film and Biopic on Sardar Patel were conducted by Prof. Aleksandar Petrovic at the Faculty of Philology, University of Belgrade as part of course on “Cultural History of India” and also at University of Novi Sad where Hindi Chair has recently been established.

La Paz, Bolivia

A ceremony was held to commemorate the occasion and the documentary on Sardar Patel titled “A Man of Silence – Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel” was screened at the Cultural Center in the Embassy.

The Embassy celebrated the 141st birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel as the ‘Rashtriya Ekta Divas’ on 31 October 2016. A pledge was administered by Ambassador to the mission members who also spoke on the significance of the day and briefed on the role the ‘Loh Purush’ played for the unity and integrity of the nation. The Consulate General of India in Chicago celebrated 141st Birth Anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel on October 31, 2016 in the Consulate premises with great fervor. A large cross section of Indian Community and Indian-Americans attended the event. The celebration included screening of a 39 minutes documentary on Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel “ A Man of Silence – Sardar Vallabbhai Patel”, a photo exhibition of photographs on the life and times of Sardar Patel.

The mission celebrated Rashtriya Ekta Diwas on 31 Oct, 2016 at the premises of Indian Cultural Centre(ICC), apex organization of socio-cultural associations of the large, vibrant and highly regarded Indian Community in Qatar, functioning under the aegis of the Mission. The Consulate General of India, Hambantota celebrated 141st Birth Anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel on 30th October 2016. Floral tributes was paid at the portrait of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel by the Consul General and other senior officials of the Post. Local community, Sri Lankan friends of India, students of Tsu-Chi National School & Hindi classes and members of the Post along with their families also paid floral tribute to Sardar Patel at the Library Hall in Consulate General of India, Hambantota. The Consul General in his speech emphasized on the vision and efforts made by Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel in making India as one united country. The day saw Dance performance by students of Hindi Class and a film on the life of Sardar Vallahbhai Patel “Sardar” was also screened to mark the event.

The Post celebrated the 141st birth anniversary of Sardar Patel at 1500 hrs. (local time) on 31 October 2016 in the Chancery. The event saw a speech delivered by the Consul General, Shri Madan Lal Raigar highlighting Sardar Patel's contribution to the nation, especially during India's struggle for freedom and as the first Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister of India. Screening of a documentary film titled 'Man of Silence - Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel' and a Slide show of photographs of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel was also organised. A quiz programme on the life history of Sardar Patel was also conducted. Two winners with high scores were chosen and gifts (coffee table books) were awarded.

On 1st November, 2016, the Mission in collaboration with the PIOs Association of Harare organized screening of the documentary, titled"Man of Silence - Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel". Around 80 members of PIO community attended the event.

A function on the Rashtriya Ekta Diwas, in the memory of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, was organised in the Chancery on 31st October, 2016. A Documentary Film “Man of Silence- Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel” was screened. Ambassador also addressed the gathering highlighting the contribution of Sardar Patel in the freedom struggle and in the consolidation of Indian Union after independence.

The Consulate General of India in Hong Kong celebrated the 141st Birth Anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel on 31st October 2016, aboard the Indian Coast Guard Ship ICGS Samrat. During the occasion Hong Kong SAR Government officials, Consuls General, distinguished members of Indian community and media-persons were also present.

Consul General Shri Puneet Agrawal, in his address, mentioned the significant role played by Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel in his efforts of uniting India.

A pledge on Rastriya Ektya Diwas was administered by the High Commisszioner to the India based officials of the Mission on 31st October on. 4th November, 2016 with floral tributes were paid to Sardar Ballabhbhai Patel by the High Commissioner, & others officials as well as members of the Indian Community, who attended the event. This was followed by a photo exhibition, highlighting his contribution to the freedom struggle and the ‘Iron Man’s achievements in uniting India. A documentary film titled, ‘Man of Silence – Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel was also screened for the gathered audience.

Jeddah, Saudi Arabia

The Post organized a function to celebrate the 141st Birth Anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel on Monday, 31st October 2016 at the Chancery premises. About 200 persons attended the function including prominenet members of the Indian Community, media persons & teachrers and students of International Indian School, Jeddah (IISK). The programme started with the address of the Consul General. 55 photographs on Sardar Patel sent by the Ministry were displayed, an easy competition titiled “Relevance of the Ideas and Thoughts of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel in Contemporary India”, and which was participated by officials/staff of the Consulate. A screening of documentary “Man of Silence – Sardar Ballabhbhai Patel” was also organised on the occasion.

Juba, South Sudan

A get-together was organised in the Embassy on the evening of Saturday – 5 November, 2016, to commemorate the birth anniversary of Sardar Patel. The event was attended by senior dignitaries from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and other government department, Academicians and Professors from Juba University, Representatives of Civil Society groups and Members of the Indian Community Association here in Juba.

The ambassador in his address presented a brief overview of the life and times of Sardar Patel, highlighting his contribution to India’s freedom struggle and nation building activities after Independence.

Kabul, Afghanistan

In commemoration of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel 141st birth anniversary and his achievements, Embassy of India, Kabul celebrated Rashtriya Ekta Divas on 3rd November 2016. The program was attended by more than 20 local Indians working in Kabul. Due to prevailing security situation in Kabul, the program was postponed from the actual birth date of 31st October 2016 to 3rd November 2016.

During the occasion, ambassador Shri Manpreet Vohra, of addressed the gathering. A documentary “Man of Silence – Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel” was screened and a photo exhibition on the life of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel was also organized on the occasion. Those present paid homage and their respect to Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel during the occasion.

The 141st birth anniversary of Sardar Patel was celebrated in the Consulate on 31st October 2016. The "Rashtriya Ekta Diwas" pledge was administered to all the members of the Consulate. Followed by screening of a documentary film 'A Man of Silence - Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel' for all the members of the consulate.

The High Commission of India in London commemorated the 141st birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel on Tuesday, 1st November 2016 at India House along with members of the Indian community.

The ceremony commenced with paying tributes to Sardar Patel by garlanding his bust at the Chancery premises. followed by an address by the Acting High Commissioner Dinesh Patnaik.

Representatives of associations in UK following the teachings of Sardar Patel like Sardar Patel Memorial Society UK and National Association of Patidar Samaj also spoke at the event. They also paid homage to the leader.

A documentary film on the life of Sardar Patel titled ‘A man of silence – Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel’ was also screened. Around 150 members of the Indian community attended the event and were highly appreciative of the event.

Lusaka, Zambia

The high commissioner administered the pledge to officials of the Mission to mark ‘Rashtriya Ekta Diwas’. High commissioner addressed the gathering and spoke about the services and sacrifices of Sardar Patel and paid homages of Sardar Patel. This was followed by the screening of the documentary ‘A Man of Silence – Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel’.

Madrid, Spain

Mission had organized an event to celebrate Rashtriya Ekta Diwas in Madrid.

An exhibition titled “Life and Times of Sardar Patel” was mounted in the Chancery and the feature film “Sardar” (1993) by Ketan Mehta was screened.

The event was attended by about 40 people. Witnessing the exhibition, the visitors appreciated the glimpses into the life of Sardar Patel, which exemplified humility and Gandhian ideals of simple living and high thinking.The Indian diaspora here also proudly reminisced the contribution of Sardar Patel as founding father of the Republic of India who shaped the narrative of a modern, strong and self-reliant country.

The Indian Cultural Centre, High Commission of India celebrated the 141st Birth Anniversary of SardarVallabhbhai Patel as Rashtriya Ekta Diwas on 31st October, 2016. The programme was attended by the officials of Indian High Commission, their family members, Academics and the High Commisioner Shri Akhilesh Mishra, provided over the function. He spoke about the contribution of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel inbringing the farmers into Indian freedom movement, and highlighted his extraordinary organizational skills and decisive leadership, and selfless devotion to the service of the nation.Mr. Manoj Nair and Mr. D. High Commission of India, Maputo celebrated the 141st birth anniversary of Sardar Patel on 01 November 2016. Documentary Film ‘A man of silence – Sardar Vallbhabhai Patel’ was screened at ‘Teatre Gugnu’, Maputo to an audience of about 600 Indian nationals, OCIs and local Mozambicans. The screening of the documentary was followed by a light musical performance by an ICCR-sponsored cultural troupe.

Melbourne, Australia

141st birth anniversary of Sardar Patel was celebrated in Melbourne on 31 October. A number of representatives from Indian Associations in Melbourne participated in the function. In her address to the gathering, Consul General Manika Jain lauded the role played by Sardar Patel in the freedom struggle of India & she also highlighted achievement of ‘Iron Man of India” for integrating princely states into one united India.

The programme on this occasion also included recitation of poems on Sardar Patel. A documentary film “A man of Silence – Sardar Vallabhhai Patel” was also shown to the audience. In the morning, the India-based official took Rashtriya Ekta Diwas pledge.

The Embassy of India in Minsk celebrated the 141st Birth Anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. During which a documentary titled "Man of Silence-Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel" was screened.

Munich, Germany

This Consulate organised an event on 4th Nov. 2016 at the Chancery premises. Which comprised of screening of a film on Sardar Patel; exhibition of photos depicting various facets of Sardar Patel’s life; and presentation on Sardar Patel by Prof. Dr. Renate Syed, an admirer of Sardar Patel and a prominent Indologist at the famed Ludwig Maximillian University, Munich. The event was attended by 70 guests, majority of whom were German nationals.

Nairobi, Kenya

The High Commission of India in Nairobi celebrated the 141st birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel and Rashtriya Ekta Diwas on Monday, 31 October 2016 at the Apa Pant Auditorium of the High Commission of India, Nairobi.

The event began with the lighting of the lamp and offering of floral tributes to the portrait of Sardar Patel.

In her address, High Commissioner spoke on the life and contribution of Sardar Vallbhbhai Patel in the freedom struggle of India. The keynote speaker at the event, Mr. Pheroze Nowrojee, a distinguished lawyer and recipient of the Pravasi Bharatiya Samman, highlighted the contribution of Sardar Patel in the unification of independent India.

A photo exhibition highlighting the work and life of Sardar Patel was displayed. The documentary "Man of Silence - Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel" was also screened. The event was attended by prominent Kenyans of Indian origin.

A function was organized at the Indian Embassy on 6th November 2016, to commemorate the 141st Birth Anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. The function commenced with welcome remarks and keynote address by the Ambassador. Who highlighted the struggles and achievements of Sardar Patel and lauded his contribution to the freedom struggle and India’s integration. As a part of the book reading programme, four children of Indian expatriates read passages from an article on Sardar Patel. A documentary film ‘A man of silence – Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel was screened on the occasion. About 40 Indian expatriates and friends of India participated in the function.

High Commission of India in Ottawa, in collaboration with the Canada – India Centre for Excellence and community leaders in Ottawa celebrated the 141st Birth Anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, at the Carleton University, on 4 Nov 2016.

Acting High Commissioner Arun Kumar Sahu delivered the inaugural remarks and highlighted Sardar Patel’s contribution to the foundation of modern India, Indianness and “political democracy’.

Embassy of India, Paramaribo celebrated the 141st birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel on 31st October 2016 with the participation of local and Indian community.

A lecture on Sardar Patel was organized during the week from October 24-29, 2016 for the students of ICC, Paramaribo by the Hindi Chair followed by book reading and essay completion in Hindi.

The "National Unity Day" was observed in the Embassy wherein the "National Unity Day" pledge was administered to all India based officials.

Embassy of India, Paris celebrated the 141st birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel (Rashtriya Ekta Diwas) on 31 October 2016. The event was held in partnership with the Indian Gujarati Cultural Association and GOPIO France Metropole. Members of the Indian Diaspora, friends of India and members of the Mission were present in large numbers at the celebrations.

A photographic exhibition highlighting the various stages of the life of Sardar Patel was organised on the venue and snippets from the feature film 'SARDAR' directed by Ketan Mehta was screened. Patriotic songs reflecting the spirit of Rashtriya Ekta Diwas were also presented on the occasion by the members of the Diaspora.

Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel’s 141st birth anniversary (Rashtriya Ekta Diwas) was celebrated at the Consulate on 4 November 2016.

Consul General Amit Kumar Mishra spoke on the contribution of Sardar Patel to Indian freedom struggle and role played in merger of princely states into India after independence. The gathering was also addressed by Mr. Amit Mehta, Editor of Guajarati community magazine- Sandesh.

Embassy of India Prague celebrated the Rastriya Ekta Diwas /Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel’s 141st Birth Anniversary on October 31, 2016.

The Mission had also showcased a 39 minute-video on Sardar Patel to the Indian Diaspora present on the occasion. The Embassy of India, Riyadh in cooperation with the International Indian School – Riyadh organized a variety of activities in the school auditorium to celebrate the 141st birthday of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. The students took part in various competitions such as – Painting, Essay Writing and Book Reading etc. A 39-minute documentary “Man of Silence – Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel” was shown to over 1000 students of senior classes in the auditoruim.

The Embassy of India in Seoul organised Rashtriya Ekta Diwas on 31st October 2016 at the Indian Culture Centre, Seoul. A total of 30 persons attended the event, which included Indian community members, Korean nationals and Embassy officials.

Victoria, Seychelles

The High Commission of India, Victoria (Seychelles) celebrated the 141st birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel on 12 November 2016. About 50 members of the Indian community in Seychelles participated in the event. In his remarks, Shri Anindya Banerjee, Acting High Commissioner spoke about the important role played by Sardar Patel as an extraordinary leader, freedom fighter and as an architect of integration of India. A documentary film titled “A Man of Silence” on the life of Sardar Vallabhai Patel and a slide show of the photographs of Sardar Vallabhai Patel were also shown on the occasion. The programme was followed by light refreshments.

Singapore

Mission celebrated the 141st Birth Anniversary of Sardar Patel today, in association with the Global Indian International School (GIIS), Singapore. As part of the programme, school children narrated anecdotes from the life of Sardar Patel, especially his contribution to the freedom struggle, and unification of India after independence. Excerpts from the film “Sardar” directed by Ketan Mehta and Digital photographs depicting the life of Sardar Patel were also screened. More than 100 people attended the event.

The celebrations began with an essay competition for the children of Indian Community on October 31, 2016. A spectacle on biography of Sardar Vallabh Bhai Patel was conducted on 05 November, 2016 with a large participation form the Indian Community and some locals residing in Sudan. Later in the day, a public event was organized at the Embassy where a Digital Photography Exhibition of Sardar Patel and screening of Documentary-A Man of Silence – Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel”, & a Feature Film – Sardar were explained. Ambassador highlighted the contribution Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, made to India's freedom struggle and post-independence, to the unity and integrity of India. Addressing the gathering, Chargé d'Affaires Amb. Taranjit Singh Sandhu recalled the life and contribution of Sardar Vallbhbhai Patel to the freedom struggle of India and highlighted the contribution of Sardar Patel in the unification of independent India. A photo exhibition highlighting the life and work of Sardar Patel was also declared open to general public. The documentary titled "Man of Silence - Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel" was screened during the programme.

The Mision has organized/organizing several activities to mark the birth anniversary of Sardar Patel which included-Screening of documentary on Sardar Patel for the local and Indian community members on October 29 (which was attended by about 100 persons) and again on October 31. The Rashtriya Ekta Diwas pledge being administered to Mission officials on the occasion.
